Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
Add spaghetti, stir and boil for 9-11 minutes or until al dente.
Drain pasta, reserving 1 cup of pasta water.
In a small bowl combine grated cheese and 3 tablespoons of the reserved pasta water until a paste forms.
Heat a large sauté pan over low heat and lightly toast the black pepper.
Add the cooked pasta, pasta water, and cheese paste and stir until water and cheese paste are emulsified.
Top pasta with salmon. Garnish with basil.
