This Smoked Salmon Candy Tart by Dimitria @grateboards is a flaky, savory showstopper that brings together everything you love about a classic bagel spread—with a twist. Built on a golden puff pastry base and layered with whipped cream cheese and herby Boursin, this tart is topped with flaky pieces of Acme Smoked Salmon Candy, thin-sliced red onion, scallions, briny capers, and fresh dill. A sprinkle of everything bagel seasoning ties it all together, giving you rich flavor in every bite.

Our Smoked Salmon Candy, cured in a sweet molasses and brown sugar brine, adds a smoky-sweet depth that complements the bright lemon and fresh herbs. Whether you're serving it for brunch, as a passed appetizer, or as a centerpiece for a weekend gathering, this smoked salmon tart delivers bold flavor with minimal effort. It's a fresh, fun way to enjoy smoked salmon—no bagel required.

Directions

Preheat and Prep the Pastry:
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Unfold or roll out the puff pastry on the parchment into a rectangle (about 9x13 inches). Lightly score a ½-inch border around the edge with a knife (don’t cut all the way through). This will help create a raised crust.

Add the Egg Wash & Seasoning:
Brush the puff pastry, especially the edges, with the beaten egg. Sprinkle the everything bagel seasoning generously around the border and lightly across the center.

Bake the Puff Pastry:
Bake for 15–18 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown, puffed, and crisp. If the center puffs up too much, gently press it down with a spatula after baking. Let it cool completely before assembling.

Mix the Cheese Spread:
While the pastry cools, combine the cream cheese and Boursin in a bowl. Mix until smooth and spreadable. You can use a hand mixer for extra fluffiness if desired.

Assemble the Tart:
Spread the cheese mixture evenly over the cooled puff pastry, staying inside the edges. Layer flaked Acme Smoked Salmon Candy across the top. Add thin slices of red onion, capers, scallions, and fresh dill.

Garnish and Serve:
Garnish with lemon slices (optional) or a bit of lemon zest for brightness. Slice into squares and serve immediately, or refrigerate until ready to serve.
