The Awesome Women of Acme

With International Women’s Day being today (March 8th), we want to acknowledge the hard work of a few Acme Smoked Fish ladies. Today we spoke with five awesome women who work hard to make great smoked fish every day. Get to know them in their own voice. We want to honor all of the great women who work at Acme Smoke Fish, so remember to celebrate the women in our world today, every day, and all year long, because why celebrate great women (and smoked fish) for one day only?

Susan Mutti 
Director - Sales Operations

I am a Senior Sales Administrator, and I support the sales team, manage projects, and set up and attend food shows. I joined Acme because it was a dynamic opportunity at an amazing company. What else can I say? My favorite product is the smoked fish dip. I like to enjoy our smoked fish dip on blue corn tortilla chips with toppings including capers, onions, pickles and radishes.

Chief Marketing Officer

I am Acme’s Chief Marketing Officer, or maybe more like the Chief Connecting Officer. I lead the marketing department at Acme, focused on driving growth and helping to bring the right product to the right customers so more people can enjoy our wonderful products. My number one objective is to drive positive change, connecting teams across Acme to the greater vision and enabling good people on our team to do their best so we can all win! I love NYC, and in many ways, that’s what brought me to Acme. When I saw this Brooklyn-based position calling for someone to help build a smoked fish brand, I was definitely intrigued. When I met the folks from Acme, I knew that I wanted to be part of this team. Smart people who are not only good at what they do but are also genuinely nice and kind! I continue to be amazed and inspired by the people I work with at Acme. Salmon candy is my favorite product, hands down! Caramelized smoked salmon… delicious! I love to snack on them, and they taste even better when I put them in the toaster oven for a few mins. It’s kind of like bacon for fish lovers. Sweet and salty… and a protein, what's not to love?! 

Charmaine Callender
Director - HR Compliance & Employee Engagement

Director of HR Compliance & Employee Engagement is my role at Acme Smoked Fish. I provide strategic and hands-on support to the business and its employees in the areas of employee engagement, compliance, policy creation, training, and coaching. I came to Acme because of our history. Fourth generation family owned, the excellent products, and most of all the reputation!  The fact that I love smoked salmon doesn’t hurt either. I have a few favorites, but I would have to say that the David Burke pastrami and the gravlax smoked salmon are my go-to items.  I love eating them on toasted raisin pecan bread with onions and a drizzle of hot honey! Yummy!

Donna DeLeon
Office Administrator (Brooklyn)

As Office Administrator I do a little bit of everything, and I mean everything. I actually found Acme on Craig’s list. I’m not kidding [laughs]. What I’ve grown to love about Acme though is the people. Pastrami smoked salmon is my favorite Acme product. I love having it for breakfast with the family on Sunday mornings. It’s my favorite part of the week.

Sydney Studioso
Product Development Scientist

As a Product Development Scientist, I work as a part of the Research and Development Team. I lead cold smoked salmon innovation by brainstorming the latest food industry trends and then putting an Acme spin on them! What brought me to Acme Smoked Fish? Acme leads by example with their sustainability efforts all while continuously “wow-ing” customers with quality. It also helps that I love smoked salmon! My favorite product is the poke bowl. Actually, I love the poke bowl! I will say though, I like to add some fresh toppings like cucumber, edamame, green onion, and pineapple!
