Additional Product Details

Blue Hill Bay smoked trout fillets

Acme’s rainbow trout is sourced from the cool, flowing, fresh waters of Denmark, which produce some of the finest commercially available rainbow trout in the world. After harvest from these crystalline waters, our trout arrives in peak condition, and the meat has a notable springiness once filleted, a key indicator of quality for this smaller, lighter-fleshed relative of the salmon.

After a quick brine, these trout fillets are hot smoked to attain a beige-amber hue, as well as a slightly sweet, superbly smoky flavor. What was once a seasonal delicacy is now a sustainable year-round offering, owing to modern advances at the frontier of freshwater aquaculture.

Use our smoked trout fillets to top a plate of fresh greens or to make a smoked trout dip. For a touch of decadence, enjoy these trout fillets in (or on) an egg salad. If you are in the mood for an adventurous lunch or dinner, try our recipe for smoked trout banh mi.

The Process

FAQs

It sure is. You can extend the shelf life of your fish for up to 6 months by popping it in the freezer, then thawing it in the fridge (set below 40°F) when you’re ready to enjoy. Just avoid re-freezing if you’d like to preserve the superior texture, flavor, and color of the fish.
