Lox, smoked salmon. Tomato, tomahto? Not quite. While the two names are used interchangeably, especially here in the United States, lox is different from smoked salmon. When prepared authentically, lox is cured in salt and not, in fact, smoked at all. Although this delicacy takes on a silky texture that resembles cold-smoked salmon, it stands on its own two fins thanks to its singularly salty flavor.
Everything I have ever purchased at Acme has been an absolute hit! We go to fish Friday several times a year and everything is just amazing. However, the smoked tuna 2 Fridays ago was inedible. Horrible texture - like rubber - and way too salty and it just tasted bad. I appreciate that you try different things all the time, but this one struck out big time- it went straight into the garbage. We are absolutely going to keep purchasing fish on fish Fridays and we are absolutely going to keep trying new items! WE STILL LOVE ACME Smoked Fish!!
One of the things I most miss about moving out of the city is how infrequently I can get to Fish Fridays.
