When prepared authentically, lox is cured in salt and not, in fact, smoked at all. I recently ordered online and picked up at the factory on Gem St., and I can confidently say it’s always an unforgettable experience. The vibe is just like the pre-pandemic days, when you’d wait in line at the factory – a true classic.
What I highly recommend, of course, is the fish. The smoked salmon is top-notch – rich, flavorful, and perfectly smoked. Whether you go for the classic, peppered, or any of their other varieties, you're in for a treat. Pair it with their bagels, and you've essentially got Zabar’s right at home.
