Information Regarding Kirkland 12oz. Smoked Salmon

Q:    Why was there a recall on smoked salmon from Acme?

A:     Out of an abundance of caution, Acme initiated a voluntary recall on certain packages of Costco’s Kirkland Signature Smoked Salmon due to a potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. This item was sold at Costco stores in the Florida region only. The product was on shelves between October 9th and October 13th, when it was removed.

The affected packages of Kirkland Signature Smoked Salmon are limited to Lot number 8512801270.

 

Q:    Does this affect all or other Kirkland Smoked Salmon products?

A:     No, this is an isolated incident and only affects the Florida region. This is also limited to Lot #8512801270.

 

Q:    Have these affected products been removed from sale?

A:     All affected products have been removed from stores and are not available. The products were promptly removed from all store shelves on October 13th.

 

Q:    Does this affect other Acme products?

A:     Please rest assured that all other Acme products are safe to eat. None of Acme’s other products are affected at all. We remain steadfast in our commitment to food safety.

 

Q:    What has been done to address this issue?

A:     Immediate corrective steps to ensure that this issue does not happen again have been taken. Food safety remains a top priority for us and we are committed to maintaining the highest levels of quality.

 

Q:    Has anyone gotten sick from this?

A:     There are no reported cases of illness. We acted swiftly and removed compromised product as soon as we were aware of this issue.

 

Q:    Is the FDA involved?

A:     Acme is fully cooperating and complying with all FDA recommendations.
